I love the song "fade to black" by Metallica. I am listening to it for the first time in a long time....and I am just in awe of this song. This was the first Metallica song that was semi slow, and didn't conform to there thrash metal songs. The fans gave them shit for it at the time, but they were growing as musicians. This song sets the standard for what was to come for Metallica, a perfect mix of hard, slow and emotional. The song is about suicide, but it means different things to me. I don't see it as a song of suicide as much as a song of slowly slipping into depression, but still holding on. It talks about death, but in a way that doesn't make me think about suicide....it is odd. I have noticed that with many songs, the artist intent is completely different from the listeners interpretation. Ok, so it is exactly like something I was taught in English class this year....but Mr.Dodge knew what he was talking about. Intent and Interpretation are almost never the same, what the artist was attempting to convey cannot be seen by some, or is seen but ignored. I believe environment has a huge impact on what makes a viewer, listener, ect. interpret. I know some who hear depressing music yet get a positive message out of it, or just link it to an event in there life. I am known to link songs with people, places, events and even just feelings. I hear a song and I just get a feeling from it immediately, I link the feeling to the song and I can never get that association out of my head. This only happens with some songs mind you, but when it does happen it is strange. To be able to get something out of a song few or none other people were able to is amazing. That is why I want to write music, I want others to just get a feeling from something I have made....to feed off the song and link it to there own lives. It is every song writers dream to have a song that influences people, I imagine it is the greatest feeling in the world to know that something you made is changing someones life, even if it just a minor change. To change someones perspective on life through music is a huge rush, and also a complete feeling of fufillment in life. Even if you just impact one life, it is all worth it. Music changes peoples lives, and music can be interpretated anyway the listener wants it to. That is why I love music, music is life in a way. I'm done for now, so later.

I am back, and refreshed. Actually, I came back friday but I just forgot to write in this thing for a while. Canada officially rocks.....the people are nice, the cities are clean and the accents kick ass. I got a Canadian flag to hang in my room, you know....show my heritage. I have some roots in Canada.......which would explain the hockey, and I think it is cool to be Canadian. Canadians kick ass dammit! Anyways, I beat my bro at golf....but just barely. It was a better time than I thought it would be, plus not working for a couple of days was real nice. Now I am back at work though, waking up at 6:20.....ugh. Ah well, at least I am getting paid now. Whoops, bro wants the computer....later.
