I have returned from Penn State, where they have been completely embarassed by Boston College 27-14. It's not like I love football or anything, but I have been to 3 Penn State football games and in all 3 of those games they have lost. My family is 0-3 at Penn State games.Anyways, it is odd getting back into the swing of things with school.I truly believe I have senioritus already, I am just tired of it all 3 days in. I have done this crap before, I have done the assignments before and I have spent entirely too much time in the environment of North Hunterdon High School. It is starting to wear on me, I am tired of the same shit every year having to be dealt with.....the same reminders every year. I think the class assembly we have every year has never changed, by this time I would have thought that we get the idea: drugs- bad, alcohol-bad, dress code, bullshit and then prom and homecoming stuff. They just don't seem to get it, those who are already using drugs are not going to persuaded by lecturing on the topic, and those not using drugs by this point in high school probably won't be getting into them now. If they do get tempted though, it will be the persons peers that influence them more than any teacher could. I'm not saying drug education is a bad thing, it is just done in such a half assed and boring way that no message could possibly get through. Health class.....we have had the same lesson every year for health class, the same exact lesson. I would think they might want to switch it up a bit, maybe wake some kids up with some bold teaching and statements instead of reading out of a book. Anyways, I think peers have more to do with the education of people than teachers. Teachers present the info, but your peers allow you to test it out, work it out and even denounce it. When I say education, I mean basic life lessons.....not topics such as math and history....although with some teachers, you are better to learn from students. I am talking things that will be relevent in life, and have to do with everyday things. The peer group you associate with is a reflection of yourself, because usually you are around those with similar views on topics such as drugs, alcohol and sex. I am of course not saying that you will be carbon copies of each other, but on the whole you have similar views. I could go into a rambling on how teenagers do need to work out things on there own most of the time and how at this stage friends are possibly the most influencing and important aspect of there life.....but I am tired, so I will refrain for now. Later.
Thought of The Day: You read that in a book....and by book I assume you mean nothing.
