hmm, i think the holding the door for a girl thing is alright, but i think the girls should hold the door for the guy too, cause why should he always have to open the door when she i perfectly capable of doing so too, but thats just me, i know plenty of other girls who don't mind in the least, haha, so to each his/her own, i guess, hehe

i tend to agree with the other eliz on that too. holding the door is a polite gesture for anyone to make. and in any case, it has absolutely nothing to do with oppression, unless you are holding the door to the kitchen and asking her to please step inside.
